Climate Reporting Training
Berytech – an innovators ecosystem based in Lebanon – partnered with REVOLVE to organise a two-day training to support Lebanese journalists in increasing their knowledge about agritech (water, energy, food and environment) and cleantech topics. The training, which was held in English, took place online and worked through a collaborative approach, with experts bringing different insights into the topic. The training adopted a solutions journalism methodology, guiding participants beyond the problem and promoting the reporting of existing solutions. A one-month mentorship scheme was offered to participants following the training.
“Solutions stories don’t celebrate responses to problems, or advocate for specific ones; they cover them, investigating what was done, what the evidence says worked and didn’t work about it, and why. They report on the limitations of a response”, as the Solutions Journalism Network explains.
As an outcome of the training, participants produced journalistic stories applying the knowledge that they had acquired over the course of the training. Once the training was over, participants received a one-on-one mentorship service for a month as a support tool to improve their stories.
