I’m sustainable
I grew up in the suburbs, in a small village, where environmentally friendly practices were an integral part of my childhood. Working on the field, growing our own crops, vegetables, and fruits was not only a necessity but a source of joy. These early experiences taught me the importance of living in harmony with nature.
After moving to Belgium, I quickly realized that sustainable living could extend beyond traditional farming. There are countless small, daily actions we can take to support our planet and its ecosystems. Now, I make a conscious effort to incorporate sustainable practices into my life, such as using my bicycle or public transport for commuting, shopping responsibly at second-hand stores, and buying organic and local food.
One of the most rewarding sustainable habits I’ve adopted in the past few years is traveling by train. It has become one of the most enjoyable and eco-friendly ways to explore other countries, travel home to see my family, and it reminds me that even simple changes in how we move through the world can make a difference.
The future I want
It takes a village to raise a child, and similarly, it takes all of us to drive meaningful environmental change. I firmly believe that every individual has the power to make a difference by embracing small, daily actions. These tiny steps—like practicing sobriety in our consumption, commuting more responsibly, reducing processed foods, growing our own crops, walking in nature, or simply reflecting on our day-to-day habits—are all integral to sustainable living.
Being kind to one another, to the planet, and embracing our differences also plays a vital role. These actions may seem small on their own, but together, they can have a massive collective impact. If we all make small changes, together, we can create a world where sustainability and well-being go hand in hand, leading to a healthier, happier, and more resilient planet.
