My passion for HR stems from my conviction that people are the backbone of any successful organization. I believe that by investing in the well-being, growth, and development of employees, we can unlock their full potential and drive business success, while also promoting a sustainable future for our planet. I believe that HR professionals have a critical role to play in driving organizational change towards a more sustainable future. You said sustainable and circular HR? Let’s talk about it!
I’m sustainable
When I’m not working, I find joy in nurturing my garden and my loved ones featuring the fruits of my labor-literally! – from my home garden or visiting local farmer’s markets. I am passionate about synergies in nature and permaculture. For example, when I grow calendula, borage and comfrey, I’m not just cultivating their benefits for other plants, also using their goodness to care my loved ones, create natural cosmetics and enrich my home compost which goes back to my garden, filling me with sense of purpose and alignment with nature we all belong and be part of!
For centuries, nature has provided us with effective and sustainable alternatives to pesticides. As I’ve learned from my conversations with market gardeners and farmers, it’s astonishingly clear that these solutions have been right under our noses all along. From companion planting to integrated pest management, there are numerous methods that can help control pests and diseases without harming the environment or human health.
The future I want
I yearn for a world where we cultivate wisdom from our mistakes and rediscover the value of local agriculture. In this envisioned world, children are instilled with a deep sense of belonging to nature and the land from a young age. They learn to cherish the earth’s bounty, respect its rhythms, and honour its interconnectedness with their own well-being.
As they grow, they develop a profound appreciation for the simple joys of watching seeds sprout, soil nourish, and harvests flourish. They understand that every crop requires careful tending, every drop of water precious, and every decision a consideration of the ecosystem’s delicate balance.
In this world, children are taught that they are not separate from nature, but an integral part of it – that their actions ripple through the web of life, affecting not just their own lives but the lives of countless other creatures and ecosystems.
Through hands-on experience, they learn to tend to the land with care and compassion, to nurture biodiversity, and to adapt to the changing seasons. They develop problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and a sense of community as they work together to overcome challenges and celebrate triumphs.
In this world, we recognize that local agriculture is not just about food production, but about building resilient communities that thrive in harmony with nature. We celebrate the rich cultural heritage tied to the land and honour the stories of our ancestors who cultivated this wisdom.
